INTERVIEW WITH ANNE TAMPORELLO
Anne Tamporello has spent her life around athletics, first as a soccer player and later as a strength and conditioning coach at Texas A&M, Duke, and Baylor universities. In October 2025, she joined the New Hope-Solebury School District as athletic director, where she brings her experience to a community she has come to love. Focused on helping student-athletes grow both on and off the field, Tamporello is an integral part of the team. Here, she discusses her current role.
What brought you to New Hope-Solebury?
I moved to New Hope shortly after COVID. Although I did not initially plan to remain in Pennsylvania, I fell in love with the area. After having my son two years ago, I realized I wanted to put down deeper roots. When the athletic director position opened, it felt like the perfect opportunity.
What are you most proud of accomplishing during your first year?
I am most proud of launching Lions Pride Athletic Performance. The program brings athletes from different sports together to work on speed, agility, conditioning, and strength while learning about nutrition, sports psychology, academics, and other areas that affect the whole student-athlete. When athletes train together, they begin to see one another as teammates, even if they play different sports. They support each other, attend one another’s games, and build a stronger athletic community.
How do you approach your relationships with New Hope-Solebury’s coaches?
The best part of coaching is the direct connection you have with athletes. As athletic director, I view my role as taking care of our coaches and removing their stressors so they can take care of their athletes. I want to give them the resources, support, and tools needed to lead their teams and demand excellence.
What do you hope students gain from participating in athletics?
I want students to understand the connection between athletics, the classroom, and real life. Getting up early, maintaining a positive attitude, preparing the night before, and making healthy choices are not just athletic skills—they are life skills. Becoming stronger or faster is wonderful, but that is not the end goal. The end goal is developing the mindset and habits that will serve students throughout their lives.
What has stood out to you most about the New Hope-Solebury community?
In one word, the community is phenomenal. It is passionate, involved, and always willing to help. Our booster clubs are incredibly committed, and our community members regularly volunteer their knowledge, time, and resources without expecting anything in return. New Hope-Solebury may be a small district, but the support surrounding its students is enormous. There is something very special here, and I am extremely grateful to be part of it.
